Magic Mouse vs Razer Orochi

24 10 2009

Celebrating my new found identity as a Tech Geek, I HAVE to do this post… maybe it’ll help me decide which mouse to buy? LOL

First up…

apple magic mouse with iMac

This is the new Magic Mouse by Apple just introduced Oct 2009. As claimed by Apple, its the world’s first multi-touch sensitive mouse available as a consumer product. this is one strong selling point but there are its pros and cons also… This is the introduction i’ve been waiting for ever since i got a Mac… it has a competitor, the Razer Orochi which i will weigh its pros and cons later also…

Magic Mouse

Pros:

  1. First of its kind… how cool is that!?
  2. From apple… haha blinded by that!
  3. Pretty
  4. Whole new user experience using gestures… so Apple
  5. Gets the WOW from friends
  6. momentum scrolling
  7. $98 (though still a tat ex for a mouse, but hey… its Apple!)

Cons:

  1. Not Ergonomic
  2. No wired option
  3. Bluetooth may disconnect intermittently as with all previous bluetooth mouse Apple or non-Apple
  4. No buttons cannot activate Expose as of now
  5. Gestures may be a bit awkward and take some getting use to
  6. Easily dirtied and scratched

Next up…

razer orochiRazer Orochi

Pros:

  1. Looks cool too but not as pretty as Magic Mouse
  2. Rugged and durable
  3. Wired and Wireless option using Bluetooth (so thoughtful of Razer)
  4. Comes with carrying case
  5. Mac compatible ie. can program buttons to Mac applications like Expose (need to confirm on this fact)
  6. Wires are nylon (adds durability)
  7. More ergonomic compared to MM
  8. Conventional, less getting used to
  9. Compact

Cons:

  1. Not Apple
  2. Black not as nice as White, cool nonetheless!
  3. Not made for Mac initially
  4. Expensive! S$128
  5. No Left – Right scrolling!? (Razer u gotta be kidding me!)

Guess I’m more or less decided, since Dear wants to get a mouse too (Macbook Trackpad is quite irritating), I will get Razer and she can get Magic Mouse than we’ll use interchangeably… haha best of both worlds… given we don’t break the very next day… haha CHOI!

ciao,

her goodness…

min having ice-cream

This is min and she is mine… from here on whatever you read is at your own discretion as things can get pretty mushy from here onwards…

Currently away on business and perhaps “absence makes the heart grow fonder” is really true. On bus a few days ago, it suddenly hit me that I have a really wonderful GF, there must be reasons why I enjoyed the past 9 years of my life, so… decided to make this list detailing her goodness… cheers,

1. she surprises me at my doorsteps occasionally with bags containing my favourites early in the morning.

2. she never will take anyone for granted except when she’s REALLY busy…

3. never fail to brighten up the days of people around her with her bubbly personality especially so when she meet my parents.

4. she has made my days with her feel short for the past nine years!

5. never tries to stop me from meeting my friends or doing what I want even when she really wants to see me.

6. always insistent on driving me home even when she’s really tired… not good! But appreciated nonetheless.

7. never will allow $$ issues to affect any friendships, you can short change her and she will still stay as your friend.

8. she doesn’t blame me for not buying her a Chanel bag, instead she tells me she believes that I will be able to buy her anything she wants in the future.

9. when she sets her mind on something, you can be sure it’ll be done to perfection!

10. last but not least, she is who she is and that makes my heart smile…

Thank you Dear…

~ nothing’s gonna change my love for you ~

What would an Apple fanboy dream about?

26 09 2009

Apple Cinema Display with Macbook ProWoke up from a really sweet dream today!

This is what my dream was about. I actually dreamt that someone delivered a Apple Cinema Display right to my work desk and replaced my current Samsung display with this hell of a machine.

You really can’t understand the kind of disappointment I experienced when I realise it was all a dream. I rmbr vividly in the dream I was marveling at the slick set up and I even told myself my Samsung Display can stay and act as my secondary screen. Hahahahahahahaha… So happy sia…

So when I woke up I went through my usual routine of staying up to date with Apple and I came across convincing rumors that the New iMacs along with new Mighty Mouse are coming out soon.

WooHoo… Christmas is coming… LOL

Hope the MM actually looks like this than I’m sure to buy it man!

Think it looks a bit off, lets hope Apple actually does a better job than this!

Ciao…

entourage :: Phang Soon Foo

10 09 2009

Phang Soon Foo Finally, my first entourage post as mentioned in my earlier post.

First up, none other then this idiot over here. I don’t even know how to begin talking about him. Why not lets treat him as a consumer product and see if i can successfully sell him to you?

Product: Ah Phang

Produced in: Singapore, 20 Sept 1985 (don’t worry Ladies i won’t disclose your manufacture dates)

USP(Unique Selling Point): Loyalty, Honesty, Kind, Friendly, Fillial, Humorous, Chin Chai, Determined.

Product Description: Has been loyal as a friend since our days in TKSS, though we weren’t as close back then, for some reason we remained in contact over the years, and we became closer as he entered SMU 1 year later than me. Girls out there you gotta stop judging a book by its cover. This guy over here may not look as good as Roger Federer (his God) but he definitely can play Tennis (just that he can’t serve). He will make you laugh off your seats and He is ever so nonchalant that he comes across as Bo Chap occassionally. This doesn’t mean he can’t study, for a matter of fact, his grades are better than mine, though i have no idea how he landed up in the last class back in TKSS… ROFL! If you need some financial stability then he is the right guy to look for as long as his bond with the SAF lasts. FYI he is a commissioned officer and this is a fact that a lot of our common friends couldn’t accept, prob he did some ‘under-the-table’ work! LOL

Product Summary: Overall, he gets a score of 9/10 from me and he is definitely a worthy investment. However he does have his own weak points and that is Andy… (another of our Tennis Kahkee and his neighbour who is the closest to him, close to a point that they should just date each other). I guess only a few people will know why i say Andy is his weak point. I shan’t disclose here cos it involves the reputation of another individual here. Count yourselves luck I’ve got some heart not to spill everything out…

PS: Please stop trying to be a fake non-conformist by not having a Facebook account but still lusting for iPhone. Just go get both of them!

Logitech Kinetik 15.4″ Laptop Backpack Reviewed and up for SALE!

30 08 2009

Logitech Kinetik Backpack side profileLogitech Kinetik Backpack interior

This bag has been with me for about 3 months and now I’m planning to sell it cos I just have too many bags and this bag doesn’t really fit into my lifestyle, so here you go.

If any of you guys out there are interested in this bag but thought its a bit too expensive at $169 in Challenger then probably you might wanna visit my ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260468953349&_trkparms=tab%3DSelling

Maybe I’ll just do a simple review of this bag if your thinking whether to buy this bag or not.

This backpack is really sturdy and can carry a lot of stuff without it feeling heavy on your shoulders, that’s because of the heavily padded back cushion and the shoulder straps. Take a closer look at the bag and you will know why its worth to get it at this price.

Laptop Compartment

The compartment where you slot in your notebooks are well cushioned, soft and velvety so it makes sure it doesn’t scratch your precious notebook as you slide it in and out. There’s also a velcro strap that secures it tight preventing it from moving back and forth as you commute.

padded and textured handles

This is just one aspect of the bag that i find worth the money, there are other pleasant surprises as you explore the backpack.

What this bag can hold!

These are all the things that I was able to put into this bag and carry them around effortlessly! Another good thing about this bag is the amount of pockets it has. It really helps the messiest of person to stay organised. I think only a backpack like this can help you carry these daily essentials around without feeling like one of your shoulders is dislocating soon carrying side-sling bags.

Please drop by the link provided above if you want to get this bag. Prices are negotiable!

This is the last of 3 episodes for our Taipei trip, the only regret was the weather, the next time i go back, it must be during May, the autumn season I believe.

ciao Taipei, see ya soon…

Taipei 2009 Part II :: Yummy Taipei

30 07 2009

This is the 2nd post of Taipei and this post will be dedicated to all the carbs we ate in the Land of Yummilicious Street Snacks.

生煎包 @ 师大夜市西門丁 street snacks

also called the land of Bubble Teamy favourite dessert; 花生豆花

水果拼盤銅羅燒 Doraemon

The authentic 豪大大雞扒finger lickin good

1 雞排 a day keeps the doctor awayIce cream tower from 饒河

The one thing I’ll miss from Taipei has to be their street snacks esp 雞排 and 花生豆花. Think if i find hard enough in Sg I should be able to find both in Sg but the 雞排 in Sg cannot be compared to the ones in Taiwan i have no idea why, it just taste better over in Taiwan, maybe its the air there. So hard to find chilled 花生豆花 in Sg lor, anybody know where can i find nice ones?

豪大大雞排 in 市林夜市 is still the best among all the 雞排 i’ve eaten in Taiwan. There’s one store round the corner in 西門丁 that’s quite nice also.

The 生煎包 in 师大夜市 is damn nice also. must try. its near the start of the market and there usually is a queue so quite hard to miss.

That’s all for Yummy Taipei.

Taipei 2009 Part I

30 07 2009

Taipei was wonderful! The only disappointment was the trip was too short.

Since words can’t aptly describe the whole Taipei experience, I shall let the fotos do the talking…

Yup! This foto(top left) is proof, Mr J is carved on the wooden door behind me. We walked for ard 45mins to 1 hr looking for this restaurant. Luckily the food wasn’t that bad. We ate boring stuff like bolognaise and carbonara but they were actually nicer than what we expected, or else we would have cursed and swear.

Don't blame me for taking an interest in ApplePorter Bag bought at Shin Kong Mitsuoki

(from top left) according to Min: Collin can never have enough of Apple products, I believe that’s true. Finally bought my Porter Bag from the place where it was born, Taiwan. Its a Taiwan brand and I’ve been eyeing this series of bag for some time now, finally decided to splurge on it. Damn I need to start selling some old bags on eBay!

That’s all for the 1st Post on Taipei… Up next will be “Part II – Yummy Taipei” and “Part III – Through our lenses”.
